1980-1981 | LA Kings Jersey

Larry Murphy's rookie season with the LA Kings in 1980-1981 was one for the record books. He set an NHL record for most points in a single season by a rookie defenseman, racking up an impressive 76 points (16 goals and 60 assists) and securing a spot on the NHL All-Rookie Team. Murphy's offensive prowess also helped the Kings clinch their first-ever playoff appearance. Although he narrowly missed out on winning the Calder Memorial Trophy, which went to Peter Stastny of the Quebec Nordiques that year, Murphy's performances on the ice were nothing short of spectacular.
